Buy well, buy once

In our throw away and fast fashion world, the idea of products that stand the test of time can get lost in the jumble of marketing and consumerism.

On Sunday when we decided a little last minute to go for a hike, I dug around in the back of my closet for these boots. It's been a few years, but they fit like a glove, just as they have for years. And then it hit me, I've owned these boots for 25 years.

They're a bit beat up and maybe not the latest fashion, but they do the job and keep me safe. I've carried them with me through many moves, even when I wasn't doing much hiking. They've been part of my stories for so long and they've held up all these years so there's really no reason to switch them out now.
